An up-to-date  list of things I want to accomplish before I hit the bucket.  Some are more realistic than others but that’s what life lists are for! “Shoot for the moon… if you miss, at least you’ll land in the stars”

  • Go to a rave (North Carolina, October 2012… I know Dayglow is kind of a gentrified version but it was crazy enough that I lost a flip flop and gained a massive basketball sneaker- see below- so I’ll count it for now)

  • Do the Color Run (October, 2012)
  • Hear the Dalai Lama speak (in person)
  • Go to a motorcycle rally.  On a motorcycle.
  • Scuba dive (Phuket Thailand, June 2013)
  • Go on an African safari (September 2015- South Laungwa National Park, Zambia)
  • Hike a volcano (San Pedro volcano, Guatemala, January 2016)

  • Climb an impressively tall building (Rhode Island, 2008)
  • Sleep in a tree
  • Sleep in a tipi (Ashville North Carolina USA, August 2014)
  • Sleep over at a bookstore (ideally Shakespeare And Co bookstore in Paris)
  • Go on an overnight backpacking trip
  • Crush grapes with feet to make wine
  • Visit a place of worship for ten major religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Bahaism, Confucianism, Jainism, Shintoism
  • Attend a major music festival
  • Hitchhike
  • Sleep under the stars (multiple times- most recently in Luxor and Giza Egypt, June 2014)
  • Sleep over in the desert (Giza, June 2014)
  • Go dog sledding
  • Attend an Indian wedding (Farmington, Connecticut, June 2015… still won’t mind going to one in India)
  • Go paragliding (Pamukkale Turkey, November 2015)
  • See the Aurora Borealis
  • Experience a Holi color fight (ideally in India)- It was in Auckland but ~2000 people attended so I think it counts for now (Auckland, New Zealand, February 2016)
  • Go to a Native American pow-wow (multiple times)


  • To make a bonsai tree (And its name was Mufasa… Rhode, Island, March 2009)
  • To make sushi from a sushi chef (Rhode Island, March 2007)
  • Blow glass and create something
  • To Surf (Bocas del Toro Panama, April 2014)
  • Make home-made pasta
  • Learn how to drive stick shift

  •  Swim in the infinity pool at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands (August 2013)

  •  Ride a streetcar in San Francisco (August 2013)
  • Swim with humpbacks (Tonga, October 2017) and bull sharks (Fiji, September 2017)
  •  Meditate in Lhasa, Tibet
  • See the ancient temples at Siem Reap, Cambodia (July 2013- the floating lake was better)
  • Go to Myanmar before it gets too touristy and meet up with the girls who took my picture in Japan (July 2016)
  • Visit an island in the South Pacific (Niue– October 2017)
  •  Hike in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada
  •  Visit all 7 continents: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, AsiaAntarcticaOceania
  •  Finish the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco, South and explore more of the West Coast (Climb half-dome in Yosemite, California, hike the Lost Horse Mine Trail in Joshua Tree)
  • See a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado
  • Salsa dance in Cuba (November 2017)
  • Eat hummus in Israel (that happened about 87 times haha)
  •  Visit all continental US states
  •  Visit 7 New Wonders of the World: Taj MahalPetra, Roman ColosseumChichen Itza, Machu Picchu
    (although on the first trip, I completed the hardest part of the Inca Trail then I broke my radial bone… . story here), Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer
  •  Visit a bioluminescent lake
  •  Visit Hungary, the land of my dad’s ancestors (September 2014)… if I go again I’ll have to find the town where my great-grandparents got married

  • Get a PhD (May 2015)
  • Complete a yoga-teacher training course (ideally in India)
  • Own a hedgehog (Sept 2013-April 2014)
  • Earn a Fulbright faculty fellowship (Awarded to University of Cape Town but not redeeemed- July 2017)
  • Own a Hungarian sheep dog (I put it as an accomplishment since I’ll need to be responsible and settled enough to take care of another living being)
  • Travel to 100 countries
  • Run a marathon (Tobacco Road- Durham North Carolina- March 2011)
  • Cover a room in collected postcards
  • Fall in love. For real.
  • Write a book (at the request of others… I’m purposefully saving this until I’m old and grey)
